The 2023 CEIA-Tyndall HighTechElec Transition Year Work Experience Programme took place from 20-24 February.

During the week, Transition Year students from 15 schools from Cork, Kerry and Laois, attended workshops and career talks in Tyndall National Institute & Nimbus Research Centre, UCC & MTU Departments of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and a 1-day work experience with a CEIA member company.

CEIA member companies who participated in the 2023 HighTechElec TY week, providing industry placements for TY students were: Alcon Ireland, Sanmina, Boston Scientific, Firecomms, Horner APG, Alps Alpine, Netgear, Dell Technologies, Wisetek, Flex, Logitech.

On the final day of the programme, the TY students took part in the TechnoDen Competition, where TY teams had to come up with an idea for a new product, or service based on what they had encountered during the week. Eamonn O’ Sullivan and Dr. Fatih Atar from Tyndall were the judges, and assessed some very interesting ideas and presentations from the students.

The winners of this years TechnoDen competition were Ava Scarlett and Dara Cronin for their idea and presentation ‘SPECTACULAR‘ about Augmented Reality glasses with built-in earbuds.
