We were honoured to have European Commissioner Michael McGrath, as our executive guest speaker on Sept 18th 2026.
Under the theme “Competitiveness in a Digital Age: Europe’s Agenda for Growth and Fairness,” Commissioner McGrath outlined how the European Commission is working to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness while ensuring that the digital economy works fairly for businesses and consumers alike.
The discussion covered the Commission’s competitiveness and simplification agenda, including efforts to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens and make it easier for businesses to operate and grow across the Single Market; the EU Inc initiative for innovative companies; and the forthcoming Digital Fairness Act, including the EU’s work to strengthen the protection of minors online.
The breakfast briefing provided an opportunity for an informal exchange with Commissioner McGrath on the opportunities and challenges facing Cork’s technology sector and on what Europe can do to support businesses seeking to innovate, scale and compete globally.
