“Making better business decisions through IoT”  —     Thursday 22nd of April, at 9am.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that is starting to transform how we interact and control the world around us. From our personal perspectives, it provides us with technology to monitor our health and wellbeing through smart watches and fitness trackers, to control, even remotely, our homes, e.g. smart heating, lighting and security, and to help us know when the next bus will arrive at the stop we are waiting at.

The use of IoT in the business world is no different. IoT devices sense and transfer data to monitor important processes, give us new insights, boost efficiency, and allow companies to make more informed decisions.

The Cork Smart Gateway initiative brings to you this webinar to provide general information and insights into the Internet of Things technology space, starting with exploring the general concepts of IoT and then moving into application areas and how a company may be able to find a right IoT solution for their project. Additionally, we will have two Cork companies that have succeeded in their business models by utilising IoT, the APIS Protect – an award winning company – that helps beekeepers to reduce honeybee losses and increase hive productivity through IoT and Viska Systems, a company that is at the forefront of Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) integration and who have integrated multiple smart manufacturing systems for their customers by leveraging both cloud-based solutions and integrating their customers internal systems. Finally, we will have a presentation with an example of how a partnership between Industry and Academia have been able to exploit IoT to develop a solution for a specific problem.
