Engineering Technical Solutions for Carbon Reduction:

Sustainability Engineering is an R&D group within Logitech, affectionately known internally as ‘Go Green Engineering’. This Briefing will look at some of the more interesting technical solutions covering Materials, Electronics, Manufacturing Processes and Product Energy Efficiency. Logitech will share its strategic decisions, the challenges they face, and their hope to encourage other companies on a sustainability journey to collaborate and share knowledge. 

Padraig Murphy – Principal Sustainability Design Engineer, a 20-year veteran of Logitech.

Carbon Clarity and Driving Lower Impact Design Decisions:

 Discover how, as first movers in the carbon labelling space, Logitech build on rigorous, third-party validated calculations of product carbon footprint to drive meaningful progress towards our 2030 climate goals. They will share insights into the rationale behind their Carbon Clarity program and explain how Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) support key programs, from using Next Life Plastics to optimizing supply chain processes.

David Harpur leads the Logitech Design for Sustainability (DfS) team.

 “Design for Sustainability: A Blueprint for Conscious Innovation:

What truly makes a product sustainable? Often, the most impactful choices are the ones you never see. Join us for a 20-minute, deep dive into how Design for Sustainability (DfS) is being woven into the very first sketches of Logitech’s product development activities. They will pull back the curtain on how 80% of a product’s environmental impact is decided long before mass production begins.

8:30 – 8:35am: Introduction & Welcome John McAulliffe (CEIA Vice Chair)

8:35 – 9:30am: Talks (John, Padraig, David,) and Q&A.

9:30 – 10:am:  Site tour (1st floor (Engineering) and Lab; finishing at reception and guests depart.)

During the site tour of the Logitech Engineering and Design office spaces and lab. The team will have various 3D printing and 5-axis CNC Prototyping facilities actively working on different items.
