This Business & innovation Briefing will outline the new UCC Research Strategy and Framework, including the formation of interdisciplinary research clusters through
the UCC Futures programme. With relevance to the ICT/MedTech sectors, such clusters include Quantum and Photonics; Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, and Sustainability. In addition, UCC have been working to streamline and improve their routes for collaboration and engagement with industry, locally & nationally and will describe the opportunities and routes that can exist for working together.
We are honoured to have Professor John F. Cryan, UCC present to us on Jan 21st.

Professor John F. Cryan
Vice President for Research & Innovation
John F. Cryan is Professor & Chair, Dept. of Anatomy & Neuroscience, University College Cork (UCC) and has been Vice President for Research & Innovation since 2021. He is also a Principal Investigator in the APC Microbiome Institute. He received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Galway, Ireland and was a visiting fellow at the Dept Psychiatry, University of Melbourne, Australia, which was followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA and The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California.
