The June 2013 Business Briefing takes place at Maryborough House Hotel, the Newenham Suite, Wednesday June 19th stating at 6:30pm.

The subject for the evening will be BIG DATA ANALYTICS, the latest tool to help businesses grow. Big data analytics is the process of examining large amounts of data of a variety of types uncover hidden patterns, unknown correlations and other useful information. Such information can provide competitive advantages over rival organizations and result in business benefits, such as more effective marketing and increased revenue. The primary goal of big data analytics is to help companies make better business decisions by enabling data scientists and other users to analyze huge volumes of transaction data as well as other data sources that may be left untapped by conventional business intelligence programs.

We are delighted to have David Clarke, an expert in this subject, address the CEIA, demystifying this topic, sharing opportunities on how our member companies may engage.

David has worked in the IT industry since the early 90’s in software consulting, management consulting, project, program and engineering team management, solutions architecture and technology evangelist roles. He was most recently working with Greenplum the cornerstone division of EMC’s Big Data Analytics drive and has spent the last 2 years talking to senior business executives 1-to-1 and in large forums across the EMEA region about Big Data Analytics use cases in health care, finance, utilities, manufacturing, retail and public sector to name a few.

David’s talk focuses on the Big Data Opportunities in selected industries, the values to be gained as well as the new resource requirements from skill sets to technical architectures in order to leverage this new value.
